FASSSTER

The Feasibility Analysis for Syndromic Surveillance using Spatio – Temporal Epidemiologic Modeler (FASSSTER)  is a scenario based diseased modeling and surveillance tool developed by the Ateneo Center for Computing Competency and Research (ACCCRe) and funded by the Department of Science Technology. The FASSSTER system is the main operational disease surveillance system and modeling tool used by the National Government in decision making.  While initially developed for diseases like Dengue, the main use of FASSSTER right now is on COVID – 19 monitoring.

At the backend of FASSSTER is a data warehouse where various information systems submit data to be processed and visualized by FASSSTER.  In order to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the data being submitted a HAPI FHIR server was set up at the backend of FASSSTER, and it is the HAPI FHIR server that receives the data from the various information systems and it is the one that translates the same date to a format that FASSSTER can process.
