In January 2021, the Philippines, together with a cohort of a dozen other countries were selected by the UNICEF Office of Innovation (OOI) and the Digital Public Goods Alliance to be part of the DPG pathfinding country pilots. This initiative is now being implemented by the UNICEF Philippine Country Office under the Knowledge Innovation and Data Driven Systems (KIDDS). The goal of the pilot is to support countries in the identification of existing DPGs being used locally or local technologies that can be developed as a DPG.
The work that has been done during the past months include:
Landscape Analysis - a full blown landscape analysis is being done to support the identification of potential technologies that can be nominated as DPGs
Community Building - engagement with the government, academe, startup community to ensure that they have enough context and support in developing technologies that can be eventual DPGs in the future
Capacity Building - conduct of webinars, class offerings that support the use, development and adoption of DPGs
Accelerator Program - development of an accelerator program that can support mature technologies to become eventual DPGs.
